The story of the film is based in a liberal world as well as a mix of Hindu mythology. Some people are on a mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character. The unborn child is called Kalki, an avatar of Lord Vishnu.
According to industry tracker Secnilk, Kalki 2898 AD’s first day box office collection was around Rs. 180 crore, surpassing KGF 2 to become the third-highest opener of all time. It is now eyeing a Rs. 50 crore collection after KGF 2, which is a working day. According to estimates, Kalki grossed Rs. 500 crore worldwide and is expected to cross the Rs. 500 crore mark after the weekend. If the film manages to achieve this, it will be a record for 2024 and another big opener for Prabhas.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, who previously worked together in the 1985 film Gerfater. Talking about working with the two icons of Indian cinema, Nag told Film Companion that he found it “foolish” to give directions about their performances. “I don’t know how to deal with Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. I always felt very foolish to try to tell them something about their acting or performance. Especially Mr Bachchan. With this film, I started my journey with him. It was the first day of shooting with him. And I was just clueless. I think it’s been a while since I shot anything, almost two years, and then the first person I had to direct was Amitabh Bachchan. I was like, ‘What do I say?’ Maybe, ‘Sir, slow down a bit?’ It sounded silly,” he said.
